Bathroom and shower countertops info:
Not long ago, master bathrooms were considered a luxury. Today, however, master baths and showers in Miami homes are thought of as necessities as retreats from the outside world and amenity-filled places to rejuvenate both body and spirit.
Well-appointed master bathrooms often contain separate areas for bathing, showering, basic grooming, and applying makeup. Sometimes they also incorporate areas for dressing, lounging and exercise. The most luxurious master baths are divided into zones variously consisting of a large shower, a whirlpool tub, two sinks, and plenty of storage space. Another szone contains the toilet, which is isolated for privacy. Elegant surfaces made of marble, granite, or a solid-surface material frequently grace master baths. Architectural focal points - perhaps a greenhouse bump-out surrounding the soaking tub or a cathedral ceiling with a skylight - engage the eye.
Another trend in luxury bathrooms and showers in the Miami area is towards the bathroom spa. A spa typically includes a sauna, steam bath, hot tub, and even some exercise equipment. It's best to locate the spa with convenience and privacy in mind. An ideal area is adjacent to the master bedroom/bath.
Once you've decided what kind of bathroom you want, it's time to plot your strategy for getting it. Can it be done with a simple facelift, will it require adding onto your house, or does it fall somewhere in between? Consider the following tips as you answer these questions:
Home Shower Removal Tip: The inside of a shower partition is essentially the same as that of any small, nonbearing wall. It will be made of some combination of waterproof wallboard, plaster studs, and lath. Break up the wall by pounding it with a sledgehammer. Work on only one side of the wall, and only between the studs. Whenever necessary, pull sections of the wall apart with your hands or prybar. If the wood lath resists, you can cut through it with a circular saw; if the lath is metal, use tin ships or good wire cutters. Hammer along the studs to free any exposed. wallboard, plywood or lath supports and push the wall through to its far side.
Bathroom tip from our contractors: If you install molding, place a piece of cardboard between the vinyl and the molding, nail the molding to the wall, and then remove the cardboard. This will leave a clearance between the molding and the floor, which allows the walls and floor to shift without affecting the vinyl. Install a threshold at the doorway to protect that edge. This accounts for the Miami humidity as well.
